Angere is a VR sonic experience that aims to raise awareness about mental health. In this experience, the user finds themself inside the brain of a person who suffers from anxiety. This brain is represented as a prison: a cubic space that the user can explore but cannot get out of it.
Different sounds and sonic textures are presented as the user flies through the space and the experience moves forward, to evoke feelings such as uncertainty, fear, panic attack, lethargy or calm. Various sound design strategies in the context of Virtual Reality have been studied and implemented in order to enhance the user immersion to a level that may induce those emotions in them.
The wide palette of sounds presented is the outcome of a exploratory journey of timbre and emotion in sonic art.
